LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify appropriate pharmacologic management of anxiety and delirium in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), including the role of dexmedetomidine.
- Recommend strategies for weaning opioids and benzodiazepines in the ICU, and managing withdrawal symptoms.
- Describe relevant issues associated with sepsis in the ICU, including early goal directed therapy, the CORTICUS study, and the role of vasopressin.
- List commonly used protocols and guidelines in the ICU, including glycemic control, and colloid versus crystalloid
