LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Describe the process for development of quality measures and the alignment of measures from groups including the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the National Quality Forum (NQF), and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).
- Identify opportunities for pharmacists to partner with quality improvement organizations and understand the Plan, Do, Study, Act Cycle for testing change.
- Define two types of medication adherence measures proposed by the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA).
- Describe the importance of proper medication reconciliation, and the opportunities that exist for improvements as patients transition through various levels of care.
- Characterize clinical evidence and quality measures relating to the detrimental effects of anticholinergic drugs in elderly patients.
