Douglas Scheckelhoff, MS, Vice President, Professional Development, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
Douglas Scheckelhoff is Vice President of Professional Development at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in Bethesda. In this role, he oversees divisions responsible for education provided at ASHP meetings and conferences, accreditation of pharmacy residencies and pharmacy technician training programs, development and implementation of practice standards, and quality initiatives. He also coordinates organization-wide activities related to professional development and issues involving the pharmacy workforce.
He has published, presented, and testified on a number of issues related to management, leadership, medication safety, automation and technology, supply chain, practice trends, and the future of pharmacy.
Mr. Scheckelhoff graduated from the Ohio State University with a BS in pharmacy. He also completed a Master of Science and an ASHP-accredited residency in Hospital Pharmacy at the Ohio State University Hospitals. Prior to joining ASHP in 2002, he served as a pharmacy director and in other management and leadership roles for over 17 years.
Mr. Zellmer's responsibilities at ASHP include the coordination of policy development, strategic planning, and advocacy. He also coordinates a number of international projects, including ASHP's participation in the North American Compact on the Advancement of Hospital Pharmacy and the FIP Global Conference on the Future of Hospital Pharmacy. A pharmacy graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program in the U.S. Public Health Service. He has been on the ASHP staff for 38 years.
