Description
Monday morning of the conference starts with the experience of Ridley Barron who has dedicated his life speaking with healthcare organizations about disclosure and improving care after suffering a tragic loss due to a medication error.
Everyone has a disclosure policy – it is an accreditation standard that we have in place. Do you know your process? Are you involved in the process? Disclosure isn’t merely telling the patient and/or family about an error, it includes the disclosure process within our own walls and among our own staffs. You will learn where and how patients and their families can be more effectively brought into care systems and you will utilize a meaningful disclosure process to work through case examples.
- Describe the effects of medical errors on victims, their families and the healthcare organization.
- Identify places and steps to add patients into the care process.
- Utilize a meaningful disclosure process applied to patient adverse event cases.
