- Describe and differentiate isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli that produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) from those that produce Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemases (KPCs).
- Describe how to establish a plan to educate hospital administrators, physician leaders, and others about resistance patterns in your hospital.
- Describe methicillin-resistant Staph aureus and contrast this to vancomycin-intermediate vancomycin-resistant Staph aureus.
- Using your own hospital antibiogram, estimate the rate of MRSA, VRE, ESBLs, KPCs, and stably derepressed ampC.
