Julie Karpinski, Pharm.D., BCPS is the Assistant Director of the Drug Information and Wellness Center and Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy. Julie received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas in 2000. She completed a pharmacy practice residency (emphasis in ambulatory care) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, in 2001. In 2002, she completed a specialty residency in drug information at the Kansas University Medical Center. Before joining the faculty at SIUE, she was the drug information specialist at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Karpinski became a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist in 2004. Her primary teaching responsibilities are Statistics and Literature Evaluation and Drug Information classes during the first professional year. Practice interests include drug information and promotion of health and wellness. She has published in the area of drug information, smoking cessation, complementary and alternative medicines and pharmacy education. She serves as a peer reviewer for Annals of Pharmacotherapy and Hospital Pharmacy. She is a member of ACCP, ASHP, and ICHP.
