Steven P. Nelson is Senior Associate Director, Department of Pharmaceutical Care, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. He also serves as Adjunct Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. Steven obtained his BS in Pharmacy and MS in Hospital Pharmacy from North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota. He completed an ASHP accredited residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota. Prior to coming to the University of Iowa he was Chief of Pharmacy at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota. Steven has been active in ASHP and served as delegate to several Annual meetings and as Committee Chair for a Section Advisory Group in the Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers. He has also been active in the Iowa Pharmacy Association and has chaired committees and served on task forces. In addition, he has been active with the Pharmacy Council for the University Health-System Consortium. His professional interests include medication safety, performance improvement, automation and computer systems development and human resources management.
