Asad Patanwala,
PharmD, BCPS, Clinical Assistant Professor,
University of Arizona
Dr. Patanwala is an emergency medicine pharmacy specialist at University Medical Center. He serves as the preceptor for students and residents on the trauma team and in the emergency department. He is the coordinator for the final pharmacotherapeutics course in the third year of the PharmD program.
Dr. Patanwala is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist. He is The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy student liaison for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. He is also a member of several other organizations such as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

- Describe methods that can be used to intervene in situations that could result in medication errors in the ED.
- Describe methods that can be used to prevent medication errors from occurring in the ED.
- Evaluate the rate and severity of medication errors in the Emergency Department (ED) using a prospective observational approach.
- Identify factors associated with an increased risk of medication errors in the ED.
