Kathleen M. Gura, Pharm.D, BCNSP, FASHP, is the Team Leader with the Surgical Program and a clinical pharmacist with the Clinical Nutrition Service in the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children's Hospital Boston. She is also an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston and an adjunct member of the faculty at Northeastern University, the University of Connecticut and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her professional focus is on academic clinical pharmacy and research, and her topics of expertise include nutritional support for the critically ill pediatric patient, nutritional support in intestinal failure, and sterile products preparation. Dr. Gura received her BS and Pharm.D from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston. She practiced as a clinical pediatric pharmacist at the Childrens Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, DC for several years prior to returning to Childrens Hospital Boston. Certified as a Nutritional Support Pharmacist, Dr. Gura is a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. She is also a member of several pharmaceutical societies, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the European Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. She served on the Board of Directors for the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group and the Massachusetts Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists. She is also a past recipient of the MPhA Innovative Practice Award and the ASPEN Serlick Award for safe practice in the field of parenteral nutrition.

Vanessa Kumpf,
PharmD, BCNSP, Clinical Pharmacist,

Vanessa received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1985. She then completed a 1-year Clinical Pharmacy Residency at Truman Medical Center, University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1986 and a 1-year Nutrition Support Specialty Residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1987. Vanessas current position is a Nutrition Support Pharmacy Specialist at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Her nutrition support experience includes both the hospital and home infusion settings working as a clinical pharmacy specialist. She is board certified in Nutrition Support Pharmacy Practice. Her teaching experience includes lecturing pharmacy students, medical students, and dietetic interns in the area of nutrition support and precepting pharmacy students on a nutrition support rotation. She is an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She has given many presentations on a national level covering nutrition and pharmacy related topics. Vanessa is actively involved in various pharmacy and nutrition professional organizations and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

Gordon Sacks,
PharmD, BCNSP, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice,
Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy
Dr. Sacks earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas (1994) after receiving his BS degree in Pharmacy from Auburn University (1989). He has completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Huntsville Hospital and a 2-year Nutrition Support Fellowship at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. During his tenure at the University of Mississippi (1995-2001), he achieved the rank of Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and was Coordinator of the Nutrition Support Team at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Between 2001-2008, he was a Clinical Professor at the University of Wisconsin Madison and Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Division in the School of Pharmacy. He was also Coordinator of the Surgical Nutrition Support Team at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, WI. Starting in January, 2009, Dr. Sacks became Department Head of Pharmacy Practice at the Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama. He has been a board-certified Nutrition Support Pharmacist since 1995. Dr. Sacks is active in numerous scientific and professional societies. He is a member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and has held offices in both the national and state organizations.
