Michael P. Gulseth, Pharm.D., BCPS is the Program Director for Anticoagulation Services at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD. Dr. Gulseth received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1999 from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. He completed residency training at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Gulseth is lead author and editor of Managing Anticoagulation Patients in the Hospital: the Inpatient Anticoagulation Service, published in 2007 by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Dr. Gulseth is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy. Dr. Gulseth is an active member of several professional pharmacy organizations, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the South Dakota Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. His research interests include evaluation of antithrombotic therapies in the inpatient setting and evaluation of the benefits of pharmacist-managed inpatient anticoagulation services.

Dr. Hobson has spent much of his career in pharmacy education, helping to develop curricula and instructional methodologies. At the Albany College of Pharmacy, he developed a nationally recognized model clerkship program in academic pharmacy, as well as a dual-focused residency program in ambulatory care/adult teaching and learning.

His service to the pharmacy community is varied and includes membership in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Dr. Hobson has chaired the AACP Liberal Education Special Interest Group, served as AACP Institute faculty, and was a member of the Best Evidence Pharmacy Education and Enhancing Communication Abilities taskforce.

Dr. Hobson has also been involved with curricular planning, development, and assessment. His research and faculty development activities are focused on student abilities development, curricular models, and their implementation and maintenance. He has had six books and more than 50 articles published on his research into issues of student motivation to learn, and reading and writing as essential communication and academic skills. His research has received the International Writing Centers Association's Research Award (1999) and the Robert J. Menges Research Award (2001) from the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education. Dr. Hobson writes and leads workshops at colleges and universities around the country that focus on active and collaborative learning, student motivation, writing across the curriculum, abilities-based education, and outcomes-based assessment.

Brian Meyer is Director of the Government Affairs Division for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He has over twenty-five years of association experience in the government affairs area with Washington, DC based national organizations. Previously, Brian served as ASHPs Senior Government Affairs Associate and also managed the Societys state legislative and regulatory activities. In addition, Brian directed ASHPs federal regulatory and legislative affairs functions and represented ASHP before Congress and executive agencies.

Prior to joining ASHP, he served in various government affairs positions with the American Bankers Association. He graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC with a BA in Politics and received his MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Erin Mullen, Assistant Vice President, Rx Response for the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America, is responsible for overseeing and managing the Rx Response program. Rx Response is an information-sharing forum comprised of pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, pharmacies, hospitals, disaster relief agencies and state/federal government agencies to help support the continuing provision of medicines to patients whose health is threatened by a severe public health emergency. Rx Response engages during a severe natural disaster, large-scale terrorist attack or a pandemic that disrupts the normal supply of medicines. Dr. Mullen also represents the pharmaceutical supply system as a member of the Institute of Medicine Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Catastrophic Events and is Co-Chair of the Healthcare Sector Coordinating Council, an advisory council for the Federal government Critical Infrastructure Protection programs.

Prior to leading Rx Response, she has practiced pharmacy in a variety of settings: as a community pharmacist, educator, disaster responder, and emergency management planner. She was the first Public Health Preparedness Pharmacist for the Florida Department of Health, and remains active with the National Disaster Medical System as Clinical Pharmacy Unit Leader for Disaster Medical Assistance Team FL-6.

Dr. Mullen graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1992. She earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami in 2000.
