Richard Dart,
MD, PhD, Director,
Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center
Dr. Dart is trained as a medical doctor specializing in emergency medicine and toxicology. Dr. Dart is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Medical Toxicology. Since 1992 he has served as the Director of the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center. He is the Executive Director of Researched Abuse, Diversion, and Addiction-Related Surveillance (RADARS) System. He is also the chairman of the Denver Health Authority Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. He has published more than 175 papers and chapters as well as served as editor for the first edition of The 5-Minute Toxicology Consult and the 3rd edition of Medical Toxicology. In 2002 he was recognized with a special citation from the Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He was the 2004 recipient of the American College of Medical Toxicology Matthew J. Ellenhorn Award for Excellence in Medical Toxicology. He also serves as a Deputy Editor of the medical journal Annals of Emergency Medicine and is President-Elect of the American Association of Poison Control Centers.
