Dr. Milburn received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York. After residency, she joined the pharmacy staff at Saint Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri and became a clinical pharmacy specialist in the area of nephrology and renal transplantation. Dr. Milburn completed the ASHP Research and Education Foundations Clinical Pharmacy Dialysis Service Traineeship in 1993 and pioneered clinical pharmacy services in the area of nephrology, dialysis and renal transplantation at Saint Lukes Hospital. Since 1991, she has provided numerous lectures at local and regional meetings to healthcare providers and patients regarding drug dosing issues in kidney disease and renal transplantation pharmacotherapy. She has served as preceptor for the Nephrology/Renal Transplant and Drug Policy rotations for the ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency training program at Saint Lukes hospital. For several years, she served as coordinator of pharmacy student clerkship training at Saint Lukes Hospital and has had numerous adjunct clinical faculty appointments for several colleges of pharmacy including Drake University, Creighton University, University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Kansas, and University of Missouri Kansas City. In 2007, she began a new role as pharmacy coordinator for the System Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee of Saint Lukes Health System. She has served on the AJHP Editorial Advisory Board and is currently serving as ASHPs representative to the Laboratory Working Group of the National Kidney Disease Education Program.
