Christian Hartman,
PharmD, MBA, Medication Safety Officer,
UMass Memorial Medical Center
Dr. Hartman is the Medication Safety Officer at UMass Memorial Medical Center. In this role, Dr. Hartman is responsible for overseeing all medication safety and quality related activities for the multi-campus system. In addition, he is the Director of the Medication Use Safety (PGY2) Residency Program.
Prior to joining UMass Memorial in 2003, Dr. Hartman practiced as a Senior Research Pharmacist at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. Dr. Hartman is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the MCPHS, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Northeastern University. Dr. Hartman is member of the ASHP Section Advisory Group (SAG) for Medication Safety, ASHP SAG for Complaince and Quality, and the UHC Financial Performance Committee. He is the immediate past President of Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists, President of the MSHP Foundation, and President of the American Society of Medication Safety Officers (ASMSO).
He received his Bachelor of Science is Pharmacy (BSPharm) from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy - Boston and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the University of Kansas. He completed a Fellowship in Patient Safety at the Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the Isenberg School of Management at UMass-Amherst.
