John Manzo,
BS, PharmD, Managing Consultant,
IBM Healthlink Solutions
John Manzo, PharmD, FASHP received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science followed by a Pharmacy Practice Residency. After obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from SUNY at Buffalo, Dr. Manzo held positions as a clinical pharmacy practitioner and manager and eventually a corporate pharmacy director with a focus on implementing electronic medication management systems and associated process redesign and clinical transformation. This led to a product strategy/management and clinical consultant role with a major electronic medical record vendor. He currently practices as a managing consultant for IBM Healthlink Solutions where he assists healthcare organizations plan for, implement, support and monitor safe and efficient electronic medication management systems and processes through clinical information technology-driven process redesign and clinical transformation, culture/change management, and a focus on the clinician/health information technology interface. Dr. Manzo has authored over 20 professional publications and participated in over 70 local, national, and international professional presentations.

Richard Fichtl,
BS, PharmD, Director, Medication Use Policy,
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
Dr. Fichtl came to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in July of 1987 after completing his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to that he completed his residency training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and Biology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has served in a variety of capacities at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital including Clinical Coordinator for Infectious Diseases, Assistant Director for Research and Quality Assurance, Associate Director for Pharmacy Services and is currently the Director for Medication Use Policy and Acquisition. Rick has also held appointments at Long Island University and St. Johns University during his tenure at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and has published in numerous journals including Pediatrics, Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Archives of Surgery, Journal of Infectious Diseases, and Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy as well as journals within the specialty of pharmacy practice.
