Kevin Garey, PharmD, MS is an Associate Professor at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and Chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences and Administration. He received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, a Doctor of Pharmacy from SUNY Buffalo in Buffalo, NY, and a Masters of Science in Biometry from the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston, Texas. Postdoctoral training includes a pharmacy practice residency in Cooperstown, NY and infectious disease specialty residency and fellowship training in Chicago, IL. Dr. Garey's research interests involve infectious disease epidemiology and pharmacotherapy in patients with post-surgical infections including sternal wound infections, candidemia, and Clostridium difficile infection.

Michael J. Rybak, Pharm.D., MPH, FCCP, FIDSA, is Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Pharmacy at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS). Dr. Rybak is also an Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He is the Director of the Anti-Infective Research Laboratory at the EACPHS and is affiliated with Detroit Receiving Hospital and University Health Center. Dr. Rybak received his B.S. in Pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, his Pharm.D. degree from the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and his MPH degree from the School of Medicine at Wayne State University. Dr. Rybaks primary focus of research is antimicrobial pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and their relationship to bacterial resistance. His most recent work has been in the areas of methicillin and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Dr. Rybak has published more than 200 articles in scientific journals and has authored several book chapters on topics such as antimicrobial PK/PD and resistance to antimicrobial agents and the assessment of patient outcome as it relates to antimicrobial resistance issues.
