Dr. Pedersen is a consultant in medication use systems and patient safety. He is married and has four children. Dr. Pedersen received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in pharmacy administration from The University of South Carolina. Previously, Dr. Pedersen was a professor at Ohio State University, where he directed the graduate program and the health-system pharmacy administration program. Dr. Pedersens research and consulting in medication use system management includes 1) tracking and trending national medication use system practices, 2) how to speed the adoption of new technology to improve medication use, 3) medication safety assessment and improvement, and 4) improving the medication use system. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent speaker on the medication use system and pharmacy workforce topics. Dr. Pedersen is an active member of the American Pharmacists Association and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He has served as Speaker for the APhA House of Delegates and member of the APhA Board of Trustees.

University of Arizona College of Pharmacy
Philip J. Schneider is Clinical Professor and Associate Dean for Academic and Professional Affairs for the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy at the Phoenix Biomedical campus. In this position, he provides oversight, development, and administration of educational initiatives including teaching, service and scholarship activities at the newly created Phoenix Biomedical Campus.
He received a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin, and M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy from The Ohio State University and received a Certificate of Residency from The Ohio State University Hospitals. During his 38 years of professional and academic service, he has published more than 170 articles and abstracts in professional and scientific journals, 38 book chapters, edited seven books and given more than 500 contributed or invited presentations in 22 countries and the US. He has been President of both ASHP and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrution (A.S.P.E.N.), and is currently Chairman of the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). He was the recipient of the Donald E. Francke Medal in 2006 for significant international contributions to hospital pharmacy and the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award in 2008, which is considered to be the highest honor of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
