John Manzo, PharmD, FASHP, Senior consultant, IBM, Healthlink Solutions, New York, NY
John Manzo, PharmD, FASHP received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science followed by a Pharmacy Practice Residency. After obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from SUNY at Buffalo, Dr. Manzo held positions as a clinical pharmacy practitioner and manager and eventually a corporate pharmacy director with a focus on implementing electronic medication management systems and associated process redesign and clinical transformation. This led to a product strategy/management and clinical consultant role with a major electronic medical record vendor. He currently practices as a managing consultant for IBM Healthlink Solutions where he assists healthcare organizations plan for, implement, support and monitor safe and efficient electronic medication management systems and processes through clinical information technology-driven process redesign and clinical transformation, culture/change management, and a focus on the clinician/health information technology interface. Dr. Manzo has authored over 20 professional publications and participated in over 70 local, national, and international professional presentations.

Brian A. Cohen, PharmD, MS, RPh is Director of Pharmacy Services at Baylor
University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He received his PharmD from the University of
Texas at Austin and an MS in Pharmacy Administration from the University of Kansas.
He completed a two-year ASHP accredited specialty residency in Pharmacy Practice
Management at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Prior experience includes being
the Pharmacy Financial Manager at KU Medical Center, Clinical Assistant Professor at
the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Inpatient Operations Manager at the
Harris County Hospital District in Houston, TX.
Brian has been an active member of professional organizations, including most recently
serving as the Treasurer of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists, on the
Metroplex Society of Health-System Pharmacist Board of Directors, ASHP Council of
Administrative Affairs, the ASHP Practice Managers Section Advisory Group on
Leadership Development and the Section Advisory Group on Electronic Communication.
Additionally, Brian served as the Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacists
Treasurer and Web Page Programmer and Designer. He also served on the ASHP
Student Forum Executive Committee, Chair of the Student Programming Committee and
first Chair of the TSHP Student Section. Additionally, Brian has contributed to the
profession by presenting several posters and publications.
LESLIE REUSS MACKOWIAK, RPh, M.S.
Director Horizon Clinicals
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Leslie is currently the Director for the suite of physician, nurse and pharmacy systems at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has a leadership role in the development and integration of Clinical information systems at Vanderbilt.
She formerly worked at Duke Medicine where she implemented the physician computerized order entry system in both adults and pediatrics. She practiced for most of her professional career at Duke University Health System, serving in a variety of capacities in the Department of Pharmacy and Hospital Information Systems. Her past responsibilities included oversight of all areas of Pharmacy. Leslie assumed a role which included oversight of all Pharmacy Information systems, automation and the departmental liaison to information systems throughout Duke in 1993. In this capacity she implemented numerous pharmacy systems including Cerner, Pharmnet, the McKesson Rxobot and HMM systems, and Pyxis as well as IT oversight of the departmental network, Web integration, outpatient, inventory and custom database systems.
Ms Mackowiak earned a baccalaureate degree from the University of Illinois and a master degree in pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has lectured on many aspects of information systems. She has represented pharmacy in many capacities both within the state and nationally.
Ms Mackowiak is active in numerous school, church and community committees. A native of Chicago Illinois, Ms. Mackowiak and husband, John have three children and have recently located to Nashville, Tennessee.

Michael Schlesselman, Pharm.D., FASHP, is currently the Pharmacy Director at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT and Adjunct Associate Professor for the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. Dr. Schlesselman obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University and completed a clinical pharmacy residency at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Schlesselman has served as a Director-at-Large for the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology and is currently chair of the programming committee for the Informatics and Technology Section. Dr. Schlesselman has implemented and participated in the implementation of pharmacy automation, pharmacy information systems and hospital information systems. He is currently on L&M Hospital’s Information Technology Steering Committee.
