Dr. Ferraresi is the Director of Pharmacy Services for Pathways Hospice, Sunnyvale, California. She manages the hospice prescription plan, is a clinician and educator. She consults for ProCare Hospice Care, and is Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy, UCSF, offering clinical practice rotations in Hospice and Pain Management and in Ambulatory Care. She is active in the student mentoring program.
She has been a clinical pharmacist throughout her career in a variety of practice settings-- community hospital pain clinic, infusion therapy, operating rooms, university hospital surgical service and as a poison information specialist. She often presents and has published; she is the primary author of “End-of-Life Care” in the 9th edition of Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs.
Dr. Ferraresi is a member of AHSP, CSHP (currently on the Board of Directors), the American Pain Society, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine, and the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (NCHPP), a division of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). She is a member of the Steering Committee for the Pharmacist Section. She is on the Advisory Committee of the Northern California Pain Initiative (NCPI) and is their Web Site Coordinator.
In 1995, she received the “One From the Heart Award” from the Pathways Hospice Foundation for her role as pain management consultant, educator, and volunteer, allowing “the Hospice Team to achieve their central goals—the relief of pain and the promotion of the highest quality of life for all patients.”
