Kevin Moores, PharmD, Associate Professor (Clinical); and Director, Division of Drug Information Service, College of Pharmacy, The University of Iowa
Kevin G Moores, PharmD. Associate Professor (Clinical), and Director, Division of Drug Information Service, College of Pharmacy, The University of Iowa. Moores received his PharmD at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed a residency at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has practiced and taught drug information and literature evaluation skills for over 25 years at The University of Iowa, Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, and UMKC School of Pharmacy. He has provided formulary management consultation to 5 academic medical centers, supported the State of Missouri DUR board, and chaired the State of Missouri Prior Authorizations Committee. He has presented numerous pharmacy CE programs in information management, evidence-based practice and literature evaluation, and has over 40 publications in the pharmacy and medical literature. Moores has served ASHP as a member of the Council on Educational Affairs, the AJHP Editorial Board, the Section of Clinical Specialists Scientists Programming Committee, and Meeting Programming Associate. He has served on boards, councils, and committees at the local and state level.

Dr. Calis is a clinical specialist in endocrinology and women’s health for the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He also is the Director of the NIH Drug Information Service. Dr. Calis earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and received a Master of Public Health degree from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prior to joining the NIH in 1989, he held the positions of Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, Assistant Director for Clinical Services, and Director of Nutritional and Metabolic Support. Dr. Calis is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In 1992, he was among the first in the U.S. to be certified in two specialties—pharmacotherapy and nutritional support—by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties.

Frank Pucino, PharmD, BCPS, Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader, National Institutes of Health
FRANK PUCINO, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP, FDPGEC (301-402-4295; fpucino@nih.gov) is Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader and Program Director for the Ambulatory Care Fellowship at the NIH Clinical Center. He received a B.S. in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island and a Pharm.D. from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Pucino served as Assistant Professor at North Dakota State University, where he completed a fellowship in Geriatrics. Pucino is a member of the USP Endocrinology Expert Committee and has served on the FDA Arthritis Advisory Committee. He also has served on several editorial boards and was a member of the ASHP Council on Therapeutics. Pucino is the recipient of the 2007 Association of Military Surgeons of the United States Award for Excellence in Clinical Pharmacy Practice, the 2008 AACP Crystal Apple Award, and the 2008 Allen J. Brands Clinical Pharmacist of the Year Award of the U.S. Public Health Service.

Evaluate the literature search, study selection process, and methods of data extraction used in a meta-analysis.
Explain the use of a forest plot as well as identifying the important characteristics of individual studies on the interpretation of meta-analysis results.
