George Brenckle PhD is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of UMass Memorial Healthcare, in Worcester, Massachusetts. UMass Memorial is the largest healthcare system in central and western Massachusetts, and the clinical partner of the University of Masachusetts Medical School. UMass Memorial includes the UMass Memorial Medical Center, four community hospitals, home health and hospice programs, behavioral health programs, and community-based physician practices.
Before joining UMass Memorial, Dr Brenckle was the Chief Information Officer for the University of Pennsylvania Health System, a three-hospital group in the Philadelphia area that routinely ranks very high on U.S. News and World Report’s lists of outstanding health care providers. UPHS has been named one of the nation’s 100 “Most Wired” hospitals and health systems by Hospitals and Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association, for the past six years.
Dr. Brenckle came to UPHS in 1997 from the Medical Center of Delaware (now Christiana Care) where he served as the Director of Operations. He first served as Applications Director and in the year 2000 he was appointed to the CIO Position.
Dr. Brenckle received a BSc in Chemistry in 1976 from the University of Connecticut and a PhD. in Biochemistry in 1981 from Washington University in St. Louis. He has been involved in healthcare information technology since 1987.
Dr. Brenckle is married and the father of three boys. He is active in Boy Scouts, and also plays and coaches ice hockey.
Christopher Fortier is the Manager of Pharmacy Support Services at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the South Carolina College of Pharmacy – MUSC Campus. Dr. Fortier received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut and completed both a PGY-1 Practice Residency and a PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center.
As the Manager of Pharmacy Support Services he oversees procurement/contracting, controlled substances, repackaging, compounding, give-in-clinic, and investigational drug services. Dr. Fortier has recently lead the implementation of bar code medication administration and smart infusions pumps across the organization.
As a member of the ASHP Practice Manager Section he serves as the immediate past chair on the sections Leadership Development Advisory Group (2005-present). Additionally, he is a representative on the ASHP Foundation’s Center for Health-System Pharmacy Leadership Student & New Practitioner Leadership Task Force (2007-present). Dr. Fortier has served on the ASHP New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee for two years, serving as the vice-chair in 2006-2007. Dr. Fortier is also involved with the University HealthSystem Consortium’s (UHC) Pharmacy Council in which he is a member of the Pharmacy Council’s Executive Committee and chairs the Medication Use Informatics and Technology Committee. Dr. Fortier is a member of the South Carolina Society of Health System Pharmacists and serves on the Continuing Education Committee (2006-present).
Steve Margolis, MD, Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Orlando Regional Healthcare
Dr Margolis MD is the CMIO at Orlando Regional Healthcare where he leads the clinical implementation of the electronic medical record and is responsible for their clinical strategy. Prior to joining ORHS he worked as a consultant for IBM and Cap Gemini giving lectures and working with leading academics, hospitals and healthcare systems internationally in the fields of clinical decision support, quality, process improvement, disease management, telemedicine and Physician adoption of the EMR.
Before leaving clinical practice Dr Margolis headed up the Head and Neck Oncology department at a large academic teaching hospital. In addition to his medical degrees he holds degrees in information systems, Epidemiology, business and is a Six Sigma black belt.

Mark Siska, RPh, MBA/TM, Assistant Director Pharmacy Informatics & Technology, Mayo Clinic
Mark Siska is the Assistant Director of Informatics and Technology for Pharmacy Services at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He has been actively engaged in the development, implementation, support & oversight of medication related electronic applications and automation at Mayo Clinic Rochester for 11 years. Mark is currently the past chair of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists Section of Informatics and Technology and recently served on the National Quality Forum’s Health IT structural measures steering committee. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree from the University of Illinois, College of Pharmacy in 1980, completed his Hospital Pharmacy Resident training at Saint Mary’s Hospital in 1981and recently completed his MBA in technology management.
Michael Sura, PharmD, Director of Clinical Informatics, Froedtert Hospital
Michael E. Sura is currently the Director of Clinical Informatics at Froedtert Hospital; Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this position, he provide oversight, planning, consultation and coordination leadership for the implementation, support and optimization of the Froedtert and Community Health (F&CH) integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR). He has worked as a manager for Froedtert's Pharmacy Informatics team for 2 years before moving into this role and, prior to joining Froedtert in 2004, he was Pharmacy Director for Evanston Northwestern Healthcare/Highland Park Hospital. Michael Sura has received his bachelor's and doctorate degrees in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
