Brian Meyer is Director, Government Affairs Division for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the 30,000 member national professional and scientific association that represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, long-term-care facilities, and other components of health systems. As Director, he is responsible for advocating ASHP policy before federal and state policy makers, empowering ASHP members to partner on advocacy with the Society and its state affiliates, and to use grassroots and political action to achieve its policy objectives. Mr. Meyer also serves as Secretary to the Council on Public Policy which develops recommendations on ASHP policy with respect to Congress, federal agencies, and state governments.
Mr. Meyer has more than twenty-five years of association experience in the government affairs area with Washington, DC based national organizations. Since joining ASHP in 1991, he has managed the federal legislative, federal regulatory and state government affairs functions prior to assuming overall leadership of the Government Affairs Division in 1997. Prior to joining ASHP, he served in various government affairs positions with the American Bankers Association from 1978-1990.
Mr. Meyer received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and Executive Masters in Business Administration from
Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland.
