Michael D. Sanborn, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP serves as the Corporate Vice President of Cardiovascular Services for the Baylor Health Care System in Dallas, Texas. He oversees cardiac services for all Baylor entities, with a focus on improving patient outcomes, program development, resource allocation, process improvement, marketing, clinical research, contracting, and supply chain management. Prior to this role, he was Corporate Director of Pharmacy with responsibility for pharmacy operations, finances, technology, and clinical services at thirteen hospitals in the Dallas Fort Worth area, representing nearly 3000 licensed beds and employing over 400 pharmacists and technicians.
Mike has held many elected and appointed positions at the national, state, and local levels. He is currently serving as a member of the Medication Safety Technical Advisory Panel for the National Quality Forum and is Chair of the Patient Safety and Quality Committee for the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council. He is currently President of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and has served as Chair of the Council on Pharmacy Practice for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Mike has presented and published in a variety of areas, including innovative drug therapies, pharmacy automation, clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and practice management. He received his degrees from the University of Kansas and completed an accredited practice residency with an emphasis in health-system administration at the Kansas University Medical Center.
