Andy Gray is a pharmacist whose research interests include policy analysis (the development and implementation of National Drug Policies), rational medicines use (in the elderly and in relation to antimicrobial use) and the application of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy in resource-constrained settings. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Therapeutics and Medicines Management, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. He is also consultant pharmacist for the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa. Mr Gray is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa, a past president of the South African Association of Hospital and Institutional Pharmacists and is currently President of the Hospital Pharmacy Section of the International Pharmaceutical Federation. He has been appointed to the Scheduling and Naming Expert Committee of the South African Medicines Control Council. He has also been appointed as a Member of the World Health Organization�s Expert Panel on Drug Policies and Management, and has served a number of times as a member of the WHO Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines. He has been actively involved in the development and assessment of medicines and other health-related law in South Africa.

Lee Vermeulen is the Director of the Center for Drug Policy in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, and Clinical Associate Professor at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy. He received a Bachelors Degree in pharmacy from the University of Buffalo, and a Masters in pharmacy administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed residency training in pharmacy practice and pharmacy administration at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, and served a fellowship in medical technology assessment at the University Healthsystem Consortium. In his role at the UW Hospital and Clinics, he leads a large team of pharmacists responsible for drug policy analysis and drug formulary management for both his academic medical center and for Unity Health Insurance, an 85,000 member managed care organization owned by the UW Health system. Mr. Vermeulen also conducts health services research with a focus on studies that measure the value of both medication therapy and clinical pharmacy services. He is involved in the evaluation of technology development and diffusion, particularly in the pharmaceutical market, and he publishes annual forecasts of the medication development pipeline and forecasts of the rising cost of medications. His previous scholarly work has focused on measuring the impact of various health-system medication use policies and programs. Mr. Vermeulen is active in several professional organizations, including the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, ASHP, ACCP, and currently serves as the Assistant Secretary of the Hospital Pharmacy Section of the International Pharmacy Federation (FIP).

I was borned in Mexico city, Mexico.I am a Pharmacist from the National University of Mexico.I have a PhD FROM THE NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE.I HAVE A POSTDOCTORATE POSITION at the DEPARTMENT of PHARMACOLOGY at CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY, UNITED KINGDOM.I HAD BEEN a FULL TIME FACULTY MEMBER AT DIFFERENT PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES in MEXICO CITY.I WORKED 6 YEARS at the FEDERAL HEALTH MINISTRY IN THE POSITION OF SUBDIRECTOR of the MEXICAN UNITED STATES PHARMACOPEIA.The MEXICAN PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION GAVE ME the NATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES AWARD in 1999.In 1993 I STARTED WORKING AT THE AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITY OF THE STATE OF HIDALGO WHERE I DEVELOPED A NEW PHARMACY CURRICULUM IN MEXICO ORIENTED TO COMMUNITY, HOSPITAL and CLINICAL PHARMACY.The PHARMACY CURRICULUM STARTED in 1994 AND IN 1998 WE ORGANIZED THE FIRST PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES IN THE COUNTRY in a PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL.FOR THE FIRST TIME in MEXICO THE PHARMACIST WAS INCLUDED AS A MEMBER OF THE HEALTH TEAM.AS a RESEARCHER I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN THE FIELD OF PHARMACOEPIDEMIOLOGY and I HAD WRITTEN ARTICLES IN DIFFERENT NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL PHARMACY JOURNALS.IN 2004 WE ORGANIZED THE MEXICAN ASSOCIATION OF HOSPITAL PHARMACISTS and I WAS ITS FIRST PRESIDENT. WE SIGNED A TRILATERAL AGREEMENT WITH ASHP and CSHP ( THE NORTH AMERICA COMPACT AGREEMENT) TO SUPPORT and IMPROVE HOSPITAL PHARMACY in CANADA,UNITED STATES and MEXICO. Mr. Zellmer's responsibilities at ASHP include the coordination of policy development, strategic planning, and advocacy. He also coordinates a number of international projects, including ASHP's participation in the North American Compact on the Advancement of Hospital Pharmacy and the FIP Global Conference on the Future of Hospital Pharmacy. A pharmacy graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program in the U.S. Public Health Service. He has been on the ASHP staff for 38 years.
