Sharon Murphy Enright is a pharmacist and has been a consultant to healthcare provider organizations including hospitals, health systems and health plans, physician practice groups, long term care organizations, healthcare associations and group practice organizations, the investor community and to the pharmaceutical and device industries for over 20 years. With a focus on leadership development, change management, strategic forecasting, quality and performance improvement, pharmaceutical marketing and safety of the medication use process, Enright has been a speaker for a host of audiences and is a frequent contributor to the professional literature. Her knowledge of pharmacy operations, organizational design and culture, change management, emergent pharmacy practice issues and a global perspective on the emerging health care landscape, health economics and payment systems enable her to provide insight and perspective related to the medication use process and the business of pharmacy.
Enright is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy (BS, Pharmacy) and the George Washington University (MBA). She completed an ASHP accredited residency at Yale New Haven Hospital as well as the Executive Residency in association management at the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. She is currently Senior Manager with Ernst & Young’s Health Science Advisory Services (HSAS) in Richmond, Virginia. She serves as the service line leader for Managed Care and Medicare Part D service offerings within the Operations Efficiency and Pharmacy Solutions practice.

PRESENTER(S):
Bill Puckett has been a hospital pharmacy director or manager for some 34 years prior to becoming a consultant in hospital and health-system pharmacy management. In addition to independent consulting, he also contracts with Ernst & Young, LLP, and with Hospira, Inc. Bill has been very active in hospital pharmacy organizations at both the state and national levels, including presidential officership and board of directors membership in three states and ASHP. Bill and his wife, Jan, reside in Windermere, Florida, where they both are cast members at Walt Disney World. |
Simon Scholtz has been employed as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS for nine years. He received his Accounting Degree from the University of Houston and his MBA from Houston Baptist University. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Baylor Medical Center at Irving and Irving Healthcare System in Irving, Texas from 1987 to 1999. He previously served as Corporate Controller at Memorial Healthcare System in Houston. He is an active member of Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Kansas Hospital Association Finance Technical Advisory Group.
Simon and his wife Pam, a registered nurse, live in Lawrence and have two daughters and a granddaughter who live in Dallas and a son in Kansas City. |
Mr. Patrick Parker, MSP, RPh, Director of Pharmacy & IV Therapy, Lawrence Memorial Hospital
Pat Parker is Director of Pharmacy and IV Therapy at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas serving since 1984. He also directed the Oncology Unit from 2001 to 2004. He holds a Clinical Professorship of Pharmacy Practice with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.
Pat's educational background includes an Associate of Science degree, 1971, from Kansas City, Kansas Community College, Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1975 and a Master of Science in Pharmacy in 1985 from the University of Kansas. Pat is an active member of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, The Kansas Pharmacists' Association, the Kansas Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, and has served on the Kansas Board of Pharmacy.
Pat and his wife Marilyn, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, live in Lawrence. They have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.

Description:
Charge systems, the revenue cycle, and related controls are the backbone of health-system financial management that requires constant focus and attention, often missing in many pharmacy management structures. You'll get the basics of business plans, cost/benefit analysis, and return on investment. You'll also examine budgeting, variance analysis and other controls, as well as the effective use of dashboards for monitoring performance.
