And CHC is a premier credential based on a sound assessment that provides distinction in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

The CHC Program administered by the AHA Certification Center has three components:

Eligibility requirements that are a blend of education and experience, and profile the individual who is likely to be successful on the CHC Certification Examination.
A 115-item multiple-choice Certification Examination that is based on a defined body of knowledge representative of tasks that are performed regularly in practice and considered important to competent practice.
A renewal requirement. Certification is valid for three years at which time it must be renewed through retaking and passing the Certification Examination or documenting 45 contact hours of continuing professional education.

All candidates must meet the eligibility requirements and attest to doing so by submitting an exam application. Candidates who receive a passing score on the CHC exam earn the CHC certification. To retain the CHC certification, certificants must meet the certification renewal requirements
