Russell Harbaugh, CHEP, Accreditation Coordinator, St Luke's Boise/Meridian Medical Center
Russ has worked for St. Luke’s Health System in Boise/Meridian for 14 years serving in various positions; his most recent is the Accreditation Coordinator where he is responsible for the EOC/Life Safety Fire Prevention and Emergency Management. He has been a member of ASHE for the last 10 years where he now serves as the ASHE Region 10 Director. He served as the President Elect and President of the Idaho Society for Healthcare Engineering where he was able to achieve the status of Platinum Level. Russ holds a certification from the International Board of Safety Managers as a Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional, Master Level. He has also attended many NFPA trainings, Joint Commission training and has been involved in numerous Surveys.

In this case study presentation, you will hear how one hospital applied lean principles to managing compliance with the Joint Commission Environment of Care® and Life Safety standards. This session presents the facility’s journey to drastic improvement in managing compliance. This session will enable you to— • Describe the impact the environment of care standards have throughout the hospital. • Apply lean principles to the compliance process in an effort to operate more effectively and efficiently.
