Description
Facility and equipment planning at a hospital is often driven by physicians, department managers, and chief nursing officers. Facility managers need to be prepared to address the conflicting requests that can result with a comprehensive master plan. At this session, learn how to develop a facility master plan that takes into account life cycle costs; flexibility for new technologies; and heating, cooling, and power requirements as well as what information you will need to provide to get the master plan approved and adopted by hospital senior management and board members. This session will enable you to
Discuss the importance of a facility master plan in terms of what it can and cannot do.
Develop an implementation strategy that includes a communication plan that keeps all people informed of the master plan development process.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Create a communication plan so that all levels understand the rationale behind the master plan and the master planning process
-
Develop a strategy to establish engineering as the facility expert
-
Learn to effectively use resources like health planners, architects and engineers
-
Understand who the decision makers are in the facility (doesn't always follow the org chart)
