Description
The Veterans Administration (VA) has developed protocols and a checklist that allow energy engineers and medical centers to easily identify what constitutes a quality energy program in terms of sustainable leadership, resources and planning, facilities, reporting and performance, purchasing, and the environment. Hear how various VA medical centers have used the checklist for evaluation of facilities and for gap analysis. The VA will also showcase its Presidential Award-winning root cause analysis for simple heating or cooling calls. This session will enable you to Discuss how to use the VA checklist to determine the effectiveness of a facility energy program (ASHE members and conference attendees will be able to obtain a copy of the VA checklist.) Discuss how to successfully team with your facility staff to help solve your energy issues.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
Describe how a pipe insulation replacement program can be an easy sell to top management with the right approach
Describe how assessments of facility energy programs based on well defined protocols and strong practices will provide the gap analysis needed to provide a guide to energy program reform
Describe how changing the perspective of shop staff and asking different question when troubleshooting cold calls are key to success in reducing energy costs
Describe how root cause analysis for simple heating or cooling calls often result in significant energy reduction at no or low cost
