William H. Deitenbeck is the Director of Plant Service at East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, a 14 hospital system, located in Tyler Texas. Mr. Deitenbeck has direct responsibility for the physical plants and equipment for the 3 hospitals located in Tyler and assists with the other 11 hospitals. Mr. Deitenbeck also serves as the chair of the ETMCs First Choice Cooperatives Plant Services section which selects vendors and service contractors for the ETMC system and the other coop members.
Mr. Deitenbeck started in healthcare in 1970 as a biomedical equipment technician, earning certifications as both a biomedical equipment technician and later as a Certified Clinical Engineer, before moving into Plant Services. Mr. .Deitenbeck as a BS in Industrial Technology, a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. He is a Professional Engineer and a CHFM. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Fellow in ASHE.
Mr .Deitenbeck is a 2 term past president of the Mississippi Hospital Association, Society for Healthcare Facilities Managers.
Mr. Deitenbeck has worked for all types of hospitals, For Profit, Not- For Profit, City/County, Teaching and HMO.

Description
In health care an understanding of finance is critical to make the best use of limited dollars. This presentation will provide a basic understanding of the time value of money, how it is used in decision-making, and how to present the analysis to the chief financial officer or chief executive officer. This session will enable you to—

• Analyze a project to make the best financial decision with consideration of the hospital’s financial goals.
