JSR Associates, Inc.
Jane Rohde is the principal and founder of JSR Associates, Inc., a senior living and healthcare consulting firm providing the following services; client focus groups for creative program and care model development, innovative funding strategies, and design and project management services based on evidence based research, sustainable design principles, and resident focused/patient centered programming.
Jane Rohde is a healthcare and senior living consultant, who passionately promotes culture change, sustainability, and universal design solutions. She sits on the Research Advisory Council and the Environmental Standards Council; both part of The Center for Health Design. Jane is the former AAHID Board of Regents VP and sits on the revision committee for the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities. Jane chairs the Senior Living Sustainability Guide committee, a committed group of volunteers working to create a sustainability guide for senior projects. Jane speaks internationally on senior living, aging, healthcare, evidence based design and sustainability.

Douglas S. Erickson,
FASHE, CHFM, HFDP, CHC, Director, Health Care,
Northstar Management Company, LLC
Mr. Erickson is a Senior Project Manager with Northstar Management Company, a St. Louis based firm which provides owner representation/project management services, with a specialty in health care. He is the former Deputy Executive Director for the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association. He has been providing service to the health care community as a standards writer, facilities manager, codes advocate, and consultant for over 37 years. He has held the positions of: director of engineering for the Joint Commission (1977 – 1981) and director of design and construction for the American Hospital Association (1985 – 1995). Mr. Erickson has served on the Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities since 1978 and was Chairman for the 2010 edition and is continuing as chair for the 2014 editions. Mr. Erickson is also a member of numerous NFPA technical committees and chairman of NFPA 99’s Technical Correlating Committee.

Description
Owner and designer input is needed on proposed new requirements for the 2014 edition of the FGI Guidelines as well as proposed changes to existing language and removal of outdated requirements. Participants will have a chance to discuss proposals updating text on skilled nursing, hospice, assisted living, and adult day health care facilities as well as new material on several other residential health care facility types. A voting system will be used, and all input will be recorded and reported to the 2014 HGRC at their final meeting. This session will enable you to:
● Describe how proposed change to Part 4 of the Guidelines will directly affect future construction projects
● Identify issues in the planning, design, and construction of residential care facilities that authorities having
● Gain information from the experiences of others who have applied this document to design and construction projects to use as lessons learned in your own projects.
● Apply your project experience to interpret and suggest improvements to the Guidelines document, which is widely used for design guidance and regulation of health care construction.
