Raymond Hino is a native Californian, born in Hollywood, California and raised in Pomona, California. He attended the University of Southern California (U.S.C.) and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration in 1976. In 1978 he received his Masters Degree in Public Administration (in the Health Services Administration Program) also from the University of Southern California. He completed the National Association of Public Hospitals (NAPH) Pew Leadership Fellowship Program in 1991. In 2008 he achieved Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Hino currently serves as the chief executive officer of the Mendocino Coast District Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Fort Bragg, CA. He has held this position since November of 2006. Prior to this he served for 8 years as the CEO/Administrator for Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District in Tehachapi, CA. During a 32-year career in Health Care Administration, he has served in a variety of CEO and other administrative positions in hospital organizations, including urban and rural, large and small, and in proprietary, non-profit and governmental institutions. In addition to his home State of California, he has worked in Texas, New Mexico, Idaho and Montana.
Hino is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Hospital Association (2007-2009), the California Hospital Association (CHA) (2003-2004) and the Montana Hospital Association. From 1999 to 2008, he served on the CHA Rural Healthcare Center Advisory Board, including 2 years as Chair of the Advisory Board from 2003 to 2004. In 2006 he was recognized by the CHA Rural Healthcare Center for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Health Care. In 2010 Hino was elected to serve as the Chairman of the newly formed California Critical Care Hospital Network, a rural hospital network with 31 members.
Raymond is recognized as a leader in rural health care, critical access hospitals and wellness. In 2009, Mendocino Coast District Hospital, in which Hino currently serves as CEO, was recognized as 1 of the first Healing Hospitals in the United States having achieved all 4 levels of healing.
