As a Partner of MorrisSwitzer~Environments for Health, Mr. Repichowskyj is an award winning designer and oversees all design efforts in each of our offices. His design skills, research work and commitment to evidence-based-design make him an invaluable resource for any healthcare project. In his career, Mr. Repichowskyj has completed over 150 healthcare projects throughout the United States and abroad. He is considered one of Israel’s preeminent healthcare designers for his involvement with some of the largest medical centers in that country. Mr. Repichowskyj has been with MorrisSwitzer for almost 20 years, prior to joining the firm he served as Associate and Senior Healthcare Designer for Cannon Design. With over twenty-five years of experience dedicated exclusively to healthcare facilities planning and design, Mr. Repichowskyj’s projects have included the entire spectrum of health care design with a special emphasis on children’s hospitals. Having worked around the globe on some of the most exciting healthcare projects in the world, Mr. Repichowskyj’s in depth understanding of healthcare planning and design provide the necessary experience for researching how today’s evidence is affecting patient outcomes.

Stephanie Taylor,
MArch, CIC, CEICC, Director of Research/Infection Control Professional,
MorrisSwitzer~Environments for Health
Recognizing her interest in facility design as it relates to healthcare motivated Dr. Taylor to utilize her expertise as a Physician in an alternative manner. With recent certification as an Infection Control Professional, Dr. Taylor combines her medical background with healthcare architecture. Before completing the MArch program at Norwich University, Dr. Taylor received her medical degree from Harvard University. She practiced clinical medicine for 25 years and is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Family Practice. Dr. Taylor is a board member of HAIO, a New England based organization developing strategies to reduce hospital acquired infections and to measure the effectiveness of architectural design elements. Dr. Taylor develops studies to collect data using strategies of basic science research to set up protocols. With her unique background and current research examining the connection between infection control and patient room design, Dr Taylor is making valuable contributions to the healthcare industry.

Description
The speakers will present evidence-based research on patient rooms and discuss four factors—medical errors, patient transfers, patient falls, and health care-associated infections—that demonstrate measurable cost differences between single- and multi-bed rooms. This session will enable you to:
● Use research data to establish business and clinical cases for building single-patient rooms.
● Assess the financial implications of building single-patient rooms, including how they affect debt service on construction financing.
● Apply research outcomes to establislh postoccupancy measurement criteria.
● Compile a database of research and data related to single-patient room design.
