Description
This session will feature members of the Banner Health design and construction team, as well as the lead architect, who will share lessons learned during two recent renovation projects in which in-house design standards and templates were used from planning and budgeting through occupancy. The panel will focus on the design efficiencies achieved by using templates as well as how the templates were changed and enhanced to meet the needs of both projects. This session will enable you to:
● Explain, using the case studies presented, how use of organization-specific design standards and templates can help a project team achieve a facility that meets the needs of patients and staff.
● Describe how an organization can update and improve its design templates so the design team is able to readily adapt them to suit the needs of a particular project.
● Discuss how the application of design templates can improve patient and staff satisfaction with a completed building.
● Compare challenges for the project team in applying standard design templates during planning and design for renovation projects vs. new construction.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Describe lessons learned from two significant recent projects completed at two Banner facilities.
-
Explore how user understanding and satisfaction is improved using desing templates.
-
Identify processes used to update and improve design templates.
-
Learn how design standards and templates bring efficiency to design efforts.
