Patti Clausen is the Nurse Executive for Swedish Medical Center- Cherry Hill located in Seattle, WA. Swedish Healthcare System is a four hospital integrated health care delivery system serving the Pacific Northwest. Patti is responsible for professional nursing practice and all other clinical services at Cherry Hill including respiratory, pharmacy, imaging services, deep brain stimulation, telestroke, neurophysiology/vascular ultrasound and case management.
Prior to joining Swedish, Patti held positions as Chief Nursing Officer in a large for-profit healthcare organization in California. Her accomplishments include providing leadership at the executive level for patient safety initiatives, and overseeing many quality and process improvements. Patti holds a bachelors degree in nursing from the California State University, Long Beach and a Masters in Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Timothy Peglow,
P.E., MBA, MSE, SASHE, Associate Vice President Patient Care & Prevention Facilities,
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Timothy M. Peglow is the Associate Vice President for Patient Care and Prevention Facilities at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He joined M. D. Anderson in October 2007 with almost 30 years of experience in all aspects of health care facilities management.
He is a senior member of Operations and Facilities Management and manages the general design, construction, maintenance and operation of nearly 3 million square feet of space dedicated to our patient care and prevention. In addition, he directs the provision of all facilities services consistent with the program objectives, priorities and budgets established by the Executive Vice President and Physician-in-Chief and his leadership team.
For eight years, he has served as Vice President of Property Management for Broadway Services at Johns Hopkins University. Before that, he was Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations at La Porte Hospital in Indiana, a Clarian Health System affiliate.
He is a licensed professional engineer, has a Master of Engineering degree in Clinical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree.
Peglow is regarded as a leader in health care facilities management and has written numerous articles and professional presentations on technology and clinical engineering. He has served as President of the American Society of Healthcare Engineering and continues to be an active member on its technical committees. He is a member of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers SSPC 90.1.

Has been CEO at Illinois Valley Community Hospital since March 2008, and has been a hospital CEO for 10 years. He has been in the healthcare field for 19 years and was a Management Engineer for nine years prior to becoming CEO. He has a Masters in Management from Capella University and received his bachelors in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas. Past experience as a Management Engineer with St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center and Baptist Health, Little Rock, AR, and with VHA, Inc. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Paul Shackelford joined the Executive Team of Pitt County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) as Medical Director for Quality and Safety in 2007. On November 1, 2010, he became Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, for PCMH. In his role as Senior Vice President he continues to be in charge of the Office of Quality at PCMH.
Dr. Shackelford received his Medical Degree at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. He completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pennsylvania State University at Hershey Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He joined the faculty of the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM), Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in July 1995 as an Associate Professor. In June 2003, he left the BSOM and became a partner at Greenville Women’s Clinic/Physicians East. He remained in private practice with that group until he joined the Executive Team at PCMH in August 2007.
In June 1998 he became a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, BSOM, and still remains in that position.
In addition to his role as Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, for PCMH, Dr. Shackelford also continues to work with the BSOM Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on a limited basis by doing a weekly OB/GYN clinic and assisting in surgery as needed.

Description
In response to the current uncertainty surrounding the health care industry, this panel presentation will provide insight into the current and future needs of health care facility executives regarding facility management. Senior administrators—both operational and clinical—will openly discuss the challenges they are facing and how ASHE members can assist them and become a more valuable part of their team.
