Long Beach Memorial-Memorial Care Health Systems
Mel Marks, MD is Executive Vice President of Memorial Care Health Services, a four-hospital system, including Miller Children's Hospital, a 324-bed tertiary-care, academic facility in Long Beach, California. He is also Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Marks received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine Degrees from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, his pediatric training at Montreal Children’s Hospital and his fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He received his certificate in Executive Management from UCLA.
Dr. Marks is a founding member of the Starlight/Starbright Board of Directors and currently serves as a member of the Starlight Children’s Foundation Board of Trustees. His other hospital board memberships include the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Board of Trustees, MCH Advisory Board, Memorial Medical Center Foundation, and board committees on strategic planning and finance. Dr. Marks is an advisory board member of The Children's Clinic, as well as a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the Painted Turtle Camp, the Beckstrand Foundation Advisory Board, the Century Kids Board, The Guidance Center Board of Directors, the National Children’s Study Community Advisory Board and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California Board of Trustees. He is the current chair of the City of Long Beach Board of Health and Human Services.
