This new standard cosponsored by ASHE and ASHRAE sets minimum, mandatory requirements for green health care projects. Learn how you can provide high-quality patient care, meet the myriad codes and standards, and achieve financial success while making sustainability an achievable goal. This session will enable you to-
• Explain the mandatory provisions and prescriptive or performance-based compliance options, based on a review of ASHRAE Standard 189.2, that can be instituted in a health care facility to advance its sustainability practices.
• State the main provisions of ASHRAE 189.2, as presented, that can contribute to a health care facility's sustainability goals in terms of stewardship and social responsibility.
• Discuss strategies, based on the information presented, for gaining support from senior staff to apply the requirements of ASHRAE 189.2 to health care facility projects.
• Describe, using information provided, the benefits to the health care organization of incorporating sustainability practices in health care facility design and construction projects.
