Description
This presentation focuses on how clinical systems integration can help leverage a hospital's large investment in electronic medical records (EMR) and computerized physician order entry to better impact patient care and patient and staff satisfaction while reducing operating costs. Integrating clinical, business, and building systems data gives health care providers access to a patient's information throughout the continuum of care. This session will enable you to-
• Explain how to go beyond "meaningful use” to "beneficial use” of EMR systems to improve patient care.
• Adopt ideas from examples of successful integration programs to enhance EMR use in a facility.
• List three successful design strategies, based on a review of the case study and data provided, that can be adapted to existing facilities to provide effective and efficient patient care services.
• Describe the impact that integrating clinical systems has, based on research and case studies, on patients and staff in terms of efficiencies and the provision of high-quality care.
-
Assess how system integration could benefit staff workflow and patient care.
-
Identify areas for technology integration to improve EMR solutions.
-
Learn how technology contracting is a solution that can support operational efficiencies.
