Description
For many facilities, the ability to construct and/or renovate areas to expand or modernize a department is limited by financial resources. In this presentation, you will learn how two facilities addressed this challenge through creative adaptation and updating of underused and wasted space. This session will enable you to-
• State three cost-effective, creative planning techniques that were presented in this case studies in terms of their adaptability to other facilities.
• Develop a methodology using the criteria presented in the case studies to evaluate the ability of a facility to expand and modernize existing space using creative planning techniques.
• List the issues, as shown in the case studies, that a project team needs to address when beginning the design process for a health care facility project.
• Explain the importance of planning, as demonstrated by the case studies, to deliver a health care facility project in available space and on budget.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Analyzing existing facilities and programs to find highly valuable expansion and modernization space
-
Assessing complex, multi-phase projects for cost saving measures
-
Developing functional flow planning for patient and staff functions
-
Realizing design and planning trends for improved future flexibility
