Description
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare opened the doors to its new $340 million Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in December 2010. Le Bonheur’s goal is to serve children from Memphis and throughout the United States for the next 50 years and beyond. Achieving this goal required careful consideration of technology and creation of a non-traditional project team. This session will review project management strategy, methods of collecting input from key stakeholders, technology decision-making criteria, and coordination and communication tools used during the project. The new hospital features technology aligned with the facility’s care model as well as a plan and resources to support the technology decisions. This session will enable you to—
• Discuss from a project team perspective how an alternative construction project management and delivery process can result in facilities that support the efforts of clinical staff and meet the needs of patients.
• Describe the innovative way input was gathered from key stakeholders in the case study and apply it to another project.
• State three methods, as revealed in the case study, for ensuring collaboration among facilities, IT, and clinical departments for a project that includes complex IT systems.
