He has over 30 years of experience as a structural engineer with an extensive background in seismic engineering on a variety of medical projects. He is the DCI Engineers partner in charge of health care and work out of DCI's Portland and San Diego offices.

Mark Moorleghen is an associate with DCI Engineer and manages many of DCIs major healthcare work. He is currently the project manager and lead structural engineer for the Swedish Hospital project in Issaquah Washington. He has over 30 years of engineering experience and has an extensive background analyzing and designing for floor vibration in all types of medical facilities.

Description
As the vibration criteria for hospital floors become more stringent, costs quickly escalate. Learn how engineers, architects, contractors, and owners are working together to develop cost-effective methods to address floor vibration and its impact on patient care and equipment efficacy. This session will enable you to-
• Explain the impact that floor vibration has on equipment and patient outcomes based on data provided so these factors can be taken into account in the design of patient care units.
• Develop strategies, based on the data provided, for implementing the floor vibration criteria included in the 2010 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities to reduce the negative impact of floor vibrations in a health care facility.
• Discuss strategies, as presented, for gaining support from senior staff for addressing floor vibration in critical areas.
• Create multidisciplinary project teams, as demonstrated in the examples, that can collaborate to address the impact of floor vibration on patient care and equipment efficacy.
