Description
By adopting a high-level approach to master planning, health care executives can glean the key information they need for future development efforts before investing in the expense and time of developing a detailed master plan. The five-step planning process discussed in this presentation will help you confirm, identify, and prioritize a facility's needs, all through the lens of maximizing the value of capital assets. This session will enable you to-
• Explain how the five-step planning process illustrated in the case study can be used to quickly assess major facility needs and uncover hidden needs as well as quantify these needs in terms of space and cost in order to ensure a facility's requirements can be met with available assets.
• Describe, using examples from best practices, how future planning efforts that focus on areas with the highest strategic value will maximize the value of capital assets.
• Develop an effective planning process, using information presented, to facilitate the creation of a health care physical environment that meets the needs of the health care facility at a cost within its means.
• Discuss strategies, as shown in the case study, for gaining support from senior staff for engaging in early planning efforts to ensure design and construction projects address facility needs in a cost-effective way.
