Description
Learn ways to help your facility perform to its highest potential and meet strategic, financial, operational, and clinical goals by incorporating prototype testing into your planning process. In this way, decisions can be rigorously tested in advance of construction to help health care professionals and design professionals meet financial and operational project objectives. Specific examples will be presented to illustrate the process. This session will enable you to-
• Describe the rationale, using real-life examples, for applying prototyping and simulation techniques to the planning and design of health care facilities.
• Propose a successful method, based on examples provided, for creating an in-house learning lab where professionals can test their findings in a hands-on environment to improve the operational effectiveness of health care facility construction and renovation projects.
• Develop an effective modeling process, using information from the presented research, that facilitates the creation of health care environments that function as intended and support high-quality patient care.
• Discuss strategies, as shown in the case studies, for gaining support from senior staff for using prototypes and simulation to vet design ideas early in the planning process to ensure optimal health care environments and make efficient use of financial resources.
-
Gain an understanding of how both domestic and international clients have utilized prototype development and simulation testing to prioritize value based decisions in a competitive capital environment.
-
Gain understanding of how simulation analysis can mitigate risk both to the design professional and the hospital end user.
-
Learn proven techniques to test theories re: positive outcomes anticipated from planning assumptions as represented by 3 case study examples that will be reviewed; Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Northwest Community Hospital, and US AID prototype hospitals.
