Description
Facing the challenges of a 45yearold Hill-Burton facility, Meadows Regional Medical Center found itself in a situation typical of today’s aging community hospital. The management team, medical staff, and board developed and implemented a systematic, fact-based process that began with an assessment of community needs and facility limitations. With a banker, consultants, and internal staff, they considered all available alternatives, including additions and renovations and a staged replacement, before undertaking development of a full replacement facility on a greenfield site using HUD 242 financing. Learn about the processes and challenges Meadows Regional faced and how their experiences can apply to other hospital organizations. This session will enable you to—
• Explain the history, applications, and requirements of HUD 242 as a financing alternative.
• Discuss how Meadows Regional Medical Center built a comprehensive team to manage the project from beginning to end.
