Description
Deficiencies in rated barriers create a life safety risk and survey exposure and are a continual challenge for health care facility managers. Multiple departments and contractors direct work that creates holes in barriers, resulting in a reactive approach to remediation. An effective barrier management program can alleviate the numerous findings during a survey and the continual capital outlay to correct deficiencies. The incremental cost of implementing a barrier management program provides tremendous payoff by reducing future liability and costs. This session will enable you to
Assess the extent of rated barriers and the impact of deficiencies on life safety. Identify the risks and costs of implementing a barrier management program versus reacting with corrective measures.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
Assess the extent of rated barriers and deficiencies in the integrity of the rated barriers and the impact to life safety.
Budgeting for and maintaining the barrier management program including documentation for future inspections, surveys, and construction and maintenance activities.
Identify the risk and cost analysis of implementing a barrier management program versus reactive corrective measures.
Implementing a barrier management program and integrating a project team to take ownership of the program including departmental education and buy-in to the program.
