Description
Over time building performance tends to degrade due to many factors. Most buildings perform below their potential and cost more to operate due to higher energy use and age. Organizations are also facing declining facilities staff. Retro commissioning responds to an owners desire to restore system balances, improve building performance, solve comfort and operational problems, reduce operating costs, provide a blueprint for future action and train the operations staff.

Occupied healthcare facilities face additional challenges that require extensive coordination to minimize impact on patient safety and focus on infection control during investigation and implementation process.

  • Discuss challenges of retro commissioning in occupied patient care areas while maintaining patient safety and infection control.
  • Identify the phases of the retro commissioning process.
  • Name 3 benefits for retro commissioning existing buildings.
