Stephen Monteiro, MS, EMT-P, Emergency Management Director, Childrens Hospital Boston
Stephen Monteiro serves as the Director of Emergency Management at Childrens Hospital Boston. A clinically active EMT-Paramedic with over seven years of healthcare focused Emergency Management (EM) experience and eleven years hospital-based EMS experience, Mr. Monteiro serves as Children's Hospital's primary liaison with local, regional, and state EMS and EM agencies.
With a Masters Degree in business, Stephen has successfully led numerous hospital wide EM responses, as well as regional EM project initiatives. He has authored a number of articles and frequently lectures on the pediatric aspects of disaster preparedness.

Paula Klaman serves as the Communication Specialist for Emergency Management at Children’s Hospital Boston. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications and Business from Indiana University and is pursing further degrees in Graphic and Web Design. Ms Klaman’s role at Children’s is to develop and manage communication strategies around disaster response.
Description
When disasters occur, institutional response teams turn to their emergency operations plan (EOP) to find outlines of specific response strategies and inventoried lists of emergency communication resources, equipment, and other important information. The real challenge is to make your EOP accessible to staff who require access and to present this comprehensive information in a simplified form. This case study illustrates how Children's Hospital Boston used an information management approach to accomplish this goal.
