Description
In 2004 facility mangers at Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) identified energy as a priority issue. They selected a vendor partner to assist with creating the framework of their efforts. A thirdparty billpay system was used to gather data, pay utilities, and work with the Energy Star Portfolio Manager. Barriers were accounting practices, missing utility bills, interacting with Energy Star, and properly matching data with buildings. CHI is on track to save more than $1M annually in energy costs and to begin addressing use. This session will enable you to—

• Describe the challenges of implementing a benchmarking effort in a large, multistate organization.
• Identify the tools used to benchmark a large system with emphasis on the interface between a thirdparty billpay service and the Energy Star Portfolio Manager.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Describe the challenges to implementing a benchmarking effort in a large multi-state organization.
  • Discuss the next steps in a comprehensive energy reduction program from changes in maintence & operations, energy projects as part of the repair and maintence budget and capital projects to reduce energy use.
  • Identify the tools used to benchmark a large system with emphasis on the interface between a third party bill pay service and the Energy Star Portfolio Manager
  • List the benefits secured to date by CHI's supply side cost reduction efforts and state the anticipated outcomes of the demand side efforts
