Dave Dagenais is currently the Director of Plant Operations and Security at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH. He is a Certified Healthcare Facility Manger, a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional and a SASHE with the American Society of Healthcare Engineers. Dave has been in the Healthcare industry and code development process for over 15 years. He currently sits on the following committees: NFPA 730 Technical Committee Guide for Premises Security, NFPA 731 Technical Committee Standard for the Installation of Electronic Premises Security Systems, NFPA Healthcare section Codes and Standards Review Committee, NFPA 99 Technical Collating Committee, NFPA 99 Technical Committee on Electrical Systems, NFPA 99 Technical Committee on Emergency Management and Security and he has been appointed to the NFPA Healthcare Interpretation Task Force. Dave has also served on several ASHE committees including education, conference planning and advocacy. Dave is the past President of the NH Society of Healthcare Engineers, the past Treasurer of the New England Healthcare Engineers Society, and is current president of the New England Healthcare Engineers Society

Mike Crowley received a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Houston. Mike is licensed Professional Engineer in 5 states. He joined Rolf Jensen & Associates, Inc. (RJA) in 1978 and is currently Senior Vice President-Central Region. Professional organization involvement includes NFPA 101 Technical Committee on Health Care Occupancies-Member; NFPA 101 Technical Committee on Means of Egress Alternate; NFPA 99 Technical Committee on Fundamentals of the Health Care ProjectChair;. Mike is on the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Board of Directors (SFPE International). He is designated as a Fellow in SFPE and a Senior member of American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE). Mr. Crowley provides professional fire protection engineering and building code consulting services for a variety of project types and sizes, as well as administrative management oversight of the Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Orlando and Phoenix offices of RJA.
Description
NFPA 99 is completing a rewrite cycle. The doucment has be restructured. Risk assesment has shifted to the patient from the type of building or occupancy. This presentation will discuss how the new NFPA 99 works. The major changes will be highlighted. The NPFA approval process and future actions will be presented.
