Michael Chihoski Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), and a Senior of the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (SASHE). Mr. Chihoski has earned a BS in Industrial Technology, and a MS in Industrial Management. He has more than 18 years experience working in the healthcare industry in a variety of capacities. Mr. Chihoski has worked for several large hospitals and has been consulting in healthcare facilities management for more than 12 years. Throughout his career Mr. Chihoski has been involved in more than 1,000 projects for more than 300 hospitals nationwide. Mr. Chihoski is currently an Intermittent Consultant for Joint Commission Resources and Sr. Vice President of Corporate Engineering for OSF Healthcare System in Peoria, IL. OSF is a seven hospital integrated healthcare system with facilities located in Illinois and Michigan. In his current role he is responsible for the corporate management of real estate, property management, design and construction, plant operations, biomedical engineering and environmental health and safety. Mr. Chihoski's responsibilities include the oversight of a real estate portfolio of 160 properties and a capital construction program in excess of $1 billion.

Mr. Martinelli has over 20 years experience managing environmental risks during construction including hundreds of hospital projects. He has assisted numerous hospital campuses and systems to develop risk assessment programs and provide technical assistance in monitoring, data collection and interpretation.

Description
This session will help attendees move from cursory infection control risk assessments to comprehensive pro-active construction assessments. Discussions will include assembling and utilizing the best possible multi-disciplinary team, selecting appropriate mitigation measures and evaluation methods, in time applications and capturing costs in the design phase. This session will include case studies of successful PCRA applications and where failure to apply the concepts results in significant negative impact on the facility, service availability, cost and schedule. This session will enable attendees to:
- Describe current and pending regulatory standards and guidance documents
- Identify necessary participants in the risk assessment process and their roles
- Select appropriate risk mitigation measures and match them with appropriate evaluation methods and schedules
- List evaluation strategies selected from PCRA process that can also provide support for healthy building programs; and
- Identify and assign risk assessmetn related costs in the design phase
