Scott Avirett leas the business development efforts for Johnson Controls Healthcare business for the state of Florida. Past projects have included design/build, Performance Contracts, LEED for new construction and structured finance offerings.

Christopher Male is the Medical Center Developer at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL, where he has been since 1980. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA with a Master's Degree in Health Administration. He also graduated from the University of Virginia, School of Architecture. Chris has held various positions at the Medical Center including Sr. Vice President in which he was responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of current and future medical center clinical and support programs and services. He is currently responsible for the Medical Center's new facility planning, development and construction. His most recent facility project is an outpatient medical facility located in Cocoa, FL, which opened in June 2007. This facility was developed following LEEDS NC2.1 guidelines.

Description
Sustainability requires collaboration and a long-term approach . A team from Parrish Healthcare will share how they developed a vision for sustainability and their approach to achieving it. In addition to receiving LEED Silver certification, the team's design and construction approach created a facility centered around patients and responsive to the community. This session enables attendees to:
- Learn about one model of collaboration between the owner, designer and construction team
- Learn more about the planning process that enabled the team to meet its goals
- Learn about the importance of lifecycle and how it impacts project planning and implementation choices.
